Challenge: Despite the company’s sterling reputation within the enterprise grid and high performance computing community, Platform and its previous public relations firms were not leveraging the media to its potential to reach prospective clients.
Strategy: Although the company had not received much press coverage, they did have a number of excited clients and interesting stories with a lot of potential. Working with Platform’s Director of Marketing Communications, Ricochet “mined” nearly a half-dozen untapped stories of client use-cases. Ricochet then hand-picked the journalists and publications based on their ability to reach Platform’s potential clients.
Results: After the first three months of the account, Platform hired Ricochet to handle all of its upcoming product launches. During the subsequent nine months, Ricochet secured over 60 press briefings for Platform executives with leading information technology publications including eWeek, Information Week and InfoWorld. Through this outreach, we positioned Platform as a leader in enterprise computing solutions and ensured that the industry’s leading reporters and analysts are aware of Platform’s product launches and announcements. Equally important, Ricochet secured this same level of trust and coverage from the most popular trade magazines in Platform’s various practice areas including Government Computer News, Campus Technology, Oil and Gas Journal, Dealing with Technology and Securities Industry News.
